Julien Ficely, choreographer and interpreter, creates in Nancy in 2009 the Company Filament. The company develops three axes: the creation of contemporary dance, the spread of the repertoire and the cultural actions on his territory.
Filament : “long thin organic production as a thread” (Definition of the Petit Robert).
Julien focuses his artistic research on a fine gesture, organic and animal, made of precision. A writing, or a registration, that invents the limits to better deconstruct them. Emotions are emerging from the bodies, touching the beauty and complexity of human relationships. His choreographies are going beyond the movements and differently considering the space.
With “Ô” in 2010 (creation in the National Opera of Lorraine, interpretation by the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine) and “Rhizome” in 2011 (creation in the National Opera of Lorraine), the company won the trust of cultural local partners (Région Lorraine, CCN Ballet de Lorraine) and participated in regional events (Lorraine en scène in 2011, les Plateaux Lorrains in 2012). Other cultural partners joined the adventure in 2013 allowing the creation of “Encl’Homme”: National Opera of the Rhin, CCN Nantes, Théâtre Ici et là in Mancieulles (54). Since 2015, the company works on the creation of the show “Souvenir d’un faune”. A creation for 8 dancers intends to be a rewriting of a significant piece in the choreographic repertoire: “L’après-midi d’un faune” by Vaslav Nijinski.
Since its inception, the company is anchored in the Lorraine territory by providing awareness actions in schools. Julien is regularly invited to intervene as a guest choreographer in Conservatories and Superior Dance Schools: ESDC Cannes, ENSD Marseille, ENSMD Lyon, Nancy Conservatory…
Since 2013, the company is in artist residency at the College Gaston Ramon, in Audun le Roman (54), in partnership with the Théâtre Ici et Là of Mancieulles.
